As Time Went By

Deep inside the valleys of the Annapurna region of Nepal lie thick jungles, rushing rivers, ancient villages, and the world’s highest peaks. A 125-mile long path known as the Annapurna Circuit cuts through. As I climbed slowly along this path towards the small riverside village of Tal, I peered through a gorge facing the setting sun. I stopped here for a while to take in the majestic beauty of the Himalayan mountains; their highest peaks hidden from view by the surrounding cliffs and the humidity of the approaching monsoon season. I imagine that deep in this gorge, untouched by modern civilization, nothing has really changed.
