Jeff Heim is a film and video game composer based out of the New Hampshire seacoast area. He earned his B.A. degree in music theory from the University of New Hampshire and enjoys combining his formal training in composition with his experience working with high quality sample instruments to create realistic orchestral soundtracks.
Jeff began composing music at a young age, experimenting with simple melodic and harmonic ideas on the piano. As his ear and playing ability developed, he gradually shifted to the orchestral medium and has been composing orchestral music for about eight years. Jeff discovered his passion for film scoring early in college while collaborating online with several students from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, one of the premier film programs in the world. He continues to work with many of the same directors today. Aside from film, Jeff is the composer for Poptropica, an online role playing game owned by Pearson PLC, the global publishing and education company. He is also wrapping up the music for an online strategy game called “Underverse”, set to release later this year.
In his spare time, Jeff enjoys hiking, bicycling, surfing, traveling, playing trombone and piano, spending time with friends and family, and watching movies. He often finds new inspiration from hiking in the Appalachian and Rocky Mountains, spending time by the ocean, and from his experience studying abroad in Italy.
